More than 25 years

empowering communities, guaranteeing rights, preserving our planet.

Our mission

At the Center for Human Rights and Environment Foundation (CEDHA), our mission is to take care of the planet and support local communities, guaranteeing their rights in inclusive and sustainable development. We commit to promoting public policies that integrate environmental management and human rights, ensuring access to justice, community participation, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

Through our projects and initiatives, we seek to empower communities affected by environmental degradation and foster a just energy transition that benefits everyone. We provide the tools needed to build an equitable and sustainable future..

Our 2025 projects

With more than 25 years of experience in the defense of human rights and the protection of the environment, CEDHA has carried out a diversity of projects that seek to promote inclusive and sustainable development.

In 2025, we are focused on two key strategic lines:

• Promoting a Just Energy Transition: We are dedicated to driving a shift towards sustainable energy sources, with a focus on climate-critical minerals, such as lithium. In this context, it is essential to include local communities as an integral part of the energy transition process, ensuring that their rights are respected and that they benefit directly from the exploitation of these resources.

• Environmental and Climate Legal Clinic: We work to facilitate access to justice for communities facing environmental degradation. Through our legal clinic, we seek to empower these communities so that they can defend their rights and actively participate in decision-making that affects their environment and quality of life.

In all our projects, we maintain a clear focus on the fight against climate change, with a special emphasis on reducing short-lived pollutants.

Our allies

At CEDHA, we deeply value collaboration with our partners, which include different actors. These alliances are transformed into one-off projects to benefit local communities. Below, we explore CEDHA's involvement with various institutions.

Recognitions

Over the course of 25 years, CEDHA and its members have been honoured with various recognitions that reflect our commitment to the defence of human rights and the protection of the environment.

2008 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Climate Protection Award: This award was given for contributions to global negotiations advancing climate change protection.

These awards not only validate our work, but also inspire us to continue in our mission to build a fairer and more sustainable future.

CEDHA Funding

At CEDHA, we are committed to the transparency and sustainability of our operations. Our funding is based on a combination of sources that allow us to carry out our mission of defending human rights and protecting the environment.

Our funding comes from:

• Private Donations and Contributions: We have the generous support of local and international individuals and foundations who share our vision and wish to contribute to the cause of environmental justice and human rights.
