Projects in the Argentine Puna

At CEDHA, we are implementing various initiatives in the Argentine Puna in collaboration with local communities to promote sustainable development and a just energy transition.

Below are some of our featured projects:

1- Agreement with the Government of Jujuy
We signed an agreement to promote climate resilience and sustainable development, which includes revaluing family farming, strengthening local value chains and promoting responsible practices.

2- Improvement of Llama Breeding and Shearing (Jujuy)
This project optimizes llama breeding and shearing practices in lithium areas, offering training in nutrition and sanitary management, strengthening the local economy and diversifying sources of income.

3- Monitoring of the Andean Flamingo (Salta)
We train students in the protection of the Andean flamingo, a bioindicator of the impact of lithium exploitation, promoting the conservation of its habitat.

4- Training in Driving High Size Vehicles (Salta)
We organize courses to reduce road accidents, promoting the inclusion of women as drivers of heavy vehicles and promoting gender equality.

5-Cooking Sustainably with Solar Cookers
We train communities in the use of solar cookers, replacing the use of firewood and reducing CO2 emissions, improving air quality and promoting sustainable practices.

6- Sustainable Lighting in Tolar Grande and San Antonio de los Cobres
We implemented a solar lighting project that improves the safety of public spaces, especially benefiting women and children, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

7- Volt Motors
We support the manufacture of electric taxis with Volt Motors, a company that employs more than 100 people directly and indirectly, including people from the Argentine Puna.

8- Alliance with Rotary Club InternationalWe signed an agreement to promote a Just Energy Transition and facilitate cultural and educational exchanges for young people from lithium-producing communities.

9- Renewable Energy Laboratory
We established an agreement with the Renewable Energy Laboratory of the National University of Córdoba to research new technologies for lithium production, looking for more sustainable methods.

10- Collaboration with OAJNU
We have an agreement with the Argentine Youth Organization for the United Nations (OAJNU) to strengthen community capacities, offering training to young people in relation to lithium and its sustainable use.

11- Women's Contributions to the Lithium Supply Chain
We assess women's participation in the lithium industry and strengthen their labor capacities through workshops, including women from indigenous communities.

12- Public School No. 4-018 Manuel Nicolás Savio
We held a seminar on the sustainable exploitation of lithium deposits, addressing challenges and opportunities to guarantee local added value.

13- Project for a Sustainable Tolar Grande
We implemented the project 'For a Sustainable Tolar Grande' to train the population in the use of renewable energies and improve the quality of life.

14- Sustainability Indicators for the Lithium Industry
We developed a scheme of sustainability indicators together with the company HINS, integrating social and environmental factors into the lithium production chain.

15- 25 de Mayo Public School
We carried out the project 'Strategic Resources in the Argentine Republic' to train students in the energy transition related to lithium and gas.

16- University of Belgrano
We collaborated in the conference 'Minerals for Climate Action' to discuss the impact of minerals on the development of host communities.

These projects reflect CEDHA's commitment to sustainable and inclusive development, promoting the active participation of local communities and responsible practices in the lithium industry.
