CEDHA Proposed Strengthening Synergies in the Mining Sector

This proposal was presented by Dr. Juan Picolotti at the '5th International Lithium Congress' with the aim of benefiting host communities and promoting a clean energy transition.

The Center for Human Rights and Environment (CEDHA) participated in the 5th International Lithium Congress, recently held in Buenos Aires.

Within this framework, Dr. Juan Picolotti, legal representative of CEDHA, presented the program 'Promoting a Just Energy Transition,' which focuses on lithium and local communities.

On this occasion, he emphasized the importance of strengthening synergies between governments, companies, civil society, and institutions to benefit the host communities welcoming mining companies currently extracting — or planning to extract — lithium in the region.

In another part of his presentation, Dr. Picolotti encouraged companies to adopt the best available technologies to minimize water resource usage. He also mentioned that CEDHA is developing various projects that support traditional activities benefiting local communities. Among these, he highlighted the donation of solar water heaters, solar panels, and solar cookers to schools and institutions in remote areas.

Sustainable Development

It is worth noting that CEDHA’s mission is to promote sustainable and equitable development in Argentina and Latin America. Through its initiatives, the foundation seeks to empower local communities and encourage responsible practices in sectors such as mining, energy, and agriculture. Its programs include sustainability education and environmental management workshops.

Finally, CEDHA expressed its gratitude to Vostock Capital for the invitation to participate in the event.
