The event, Cultivating Community, was organized by the Waverley Street Foundation and featured a keynote by former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.
The Center for Human Rights and Environment (CEDHA) recently participated in Cultivating Community, held in Mexico and organized by the Waverley Street Foundation—an internationally renowned institution focused on community development and creating meaningful connections.
The gathering was centered on promoting collaboration and strengthening communities. It featured workshops, discussion panels, and interactive activities, providing a space for participants to share ideas and experiences on how to foster a sense of community.
On this occasion, former Chilean President and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, delivered a keynote address. She spoke on topics related to human rights, gender equity, and sustainable development, placing special emphasis on the importance of social inclusion and the role of communities in promoting human rights and distributive justice.
Planning for the Future
The event brought together key actors from different regions around the world, collaborating on the vision and planning of a more sustainable future. Participants shared experiences, challenges, and innovative solutions to confront the climate crisis.
The gathering in Mexico provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen organizations working on the ground, empowering communities to lead global climate efforts.
This aligns with the mission of the Waverley Street Foundation, which invests in community innovations that are launching the next chapter of climate action from the ground up—locally rooted and expanding to regional, national, and global levels—guided by the belief that together we can build a future where everyone wins: families, businesses, and the planet all thrive.
Empowering Local Leaders
At CEDHA, we firmly believe that cultivating community means empowering local actors as true climate leaders. For this reason, Cultivating Community reaffirms our mission to promote climate justice and human rights in our effort to build a future where all voices are heard and all communities are part of the change.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jared Blumenfeld and his entire team for their dedication and hospitality.
