Commitment to Lithium-Producing Local Communities: Strengthening Sustainable Development in Jujuy

At CEDHA, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Production of Jujuy, represented by Juan Carlos Abud Robles and Patricia Ríos, for their dedication to the collaborative project we are carrying out for the benefit of local communities in the province.

We also want to acknowledge the valuable support from local producers in lithium-producing areas such as Susques, Huáncar, Puesto Sey, Pastos Chicos, and El Toro. This joint effort is vital to improving the living conditions of residents in these regions and promoting sustainable economic activities.

At CEDHA, we strongly believe that strengthening traditional and native practices—such as llama herding and shearing, and using their fiber to create local products—is key to improving the value chain and, ultimately, the quality of life in these communities. Valuing these ancestral skills not only supports the local economy but also preserves and reinforces the cultural identity of the region’s Indigenous peoples.

These types of initiatives are essential within a framework of a just energy transition, which must be inclusive and sensitive to the needs and rights of the most vulnerable communities. In this regard, CEDHA remains firmly committed to working hand in hand with local stakeholders, authorities, and organizations to ensure that the development of the lithium industry is carried out in a way that empowers those who have historically played a fundamental role in regional ecosystems and economies.
