We are pleased to announce that the CEDHA Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Juan Miguel Picolotti, has partnered with the consultancy velascogroup, led by Karina Viñas, to promote sustainable development in the communities of the Argentine Puna. Together with the Kolla community of El Desierto, we have launched the project 'Promoting the Camelid Value Chain', with the primary goal of improving the quality of life of these communities through the sustainable use of their natural resources.
It is worth highlighting that the Kolla community of El Desierto is located in an area where lithium extraction takes place in Argentina, making them hosts of a sustainable lithium model that promotes development while respecting and valuing their environment.
As part of this initiative, CEDHA has donated an electric shearing machine and, in partnership with velascogroup and other institutions, has launched a training program for its use. This will enable the community to produce high-quality wool, which will be transformed into products such as ruanas, woven items, sweaters, and blankets—soon to be available in the national market. This effort is also being replicated in collaboration with other communities across the region.
Additionally, CEDHA is carrying out a similar project in the province of Jujuy, in partnership with the Ministry of Production.
This program is part of our vision for a Just Energy Transition, where we work together for positive and lasting change, empowering local communities to become climate leaders.
Let’s continue strengthening our communities—together!
